About The Center

brief history
The Faculty members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Khartoum bear a great burden to develop, design and implement research plans on Sudanese camels since the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1938. Many research on camels was published in the 1970s and 1980s, which has enriched camel research in the world. The results of this research encouraged the faculty members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to establish the Camel Research Unit in 1982 to discover the camels of single camels. In 1989, the Camel Research Station was established in Al-Shawak in the governorate of Gedaref to support the activities of the Camel Research Unit in Khartoum. In 1995, the camel research unit was upgraded to a center. The Center supports researchers from various universities and the Ministry of Animal Resources. The Ministry of Science and Technology provides some services such as scientific advice and assists in the training of undergraduate students and postgraduate students in the field of camel breeding and care. It also provides assistance to international students interested in researching Sudanese camels.
